THE JOY OF COMMUNITY

A yoga & meditation retreat

28th - 30th August 2020 (2 nights)

Lower Coxbridge House, Somerset

In this community-inspired yoga and meditation retreat, you’ll experience a wonderful immersion in yoga and the depth of its teachings.

Surrounded by the Somerset countryside, and with gorgeous accommodation options - this weekend retreat will offer a chance to reconnect, inspire and energise you.

Please read the terms and conditions before booking.

The truth of what yoga is about - is acknowledging the interconnection in all our lives.

It’s the fundamental truth of the world - that everything, from humans, to plants to animals, the oceans, and much more - exists in relationship to everything else. A relationship between all life...we are all connected.

And that’s one of the things yoga teaches us, right - this understanding of union!

This matter of relationships, interconnection and also, community is key for our wellbeing and a healthy, spiritual life.

With this understanding we can appreciate the importance of community (or 'sangha' in Sanskrit).

The coming together that can empower and enrich our lives.

During this retreat we will acknowledge and connect with the power of community. By sharing practices and time together we will cultivate a special energy full of compassion, kindness and joy.

The retreat is led by me, Sarah McFadden.

My intention is to provide a friendly and welcoming space for you to expand and deepen your practice, to learn more about yoga, to connect with others on common ground, and to savour the joy of community.

Good relationships and community are a powerful balm for coping in day-to-day life. Connecting with our community can bring a feeling of belonging, of togetherness and a sense of 'home'.

On this retreat you will be encouraged to deepen your practice in creative ways that can be incorporated into daily life. Enabling you to then live in a more harmonious way within your communities to feel an improved connection with others.

Highlights

>> Carefully crafted daily yoga & meditation practices to combine the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual elements of the practice.

>> An opportunity to go deeper with the teachings of yoga, working simultaneously with both the personal and interpersonal aspects of our experience to empower ourselves and our communities.

>> Enjoy the beautiful Somerset countryside with views of Glastonbury Tor. There are also lush gardens and a deck for yoga outside (weather permitting).

>> The chance to embrace the idea of community, acknowledging the special place for community in our lives.

>> Gorgeous accommodation with choices between an array of rooms in the house and yurts in the field outside.

>> A place to seek support and share inspiration from a community of like-minded people.

>> A hot tub to sooth muscles, relieve stress and help you unwind.

>> Plenty of time for peace and quiet to help you embrace a slower pace and restore your energy.

The yoga experience

The overall class experience will support you to experience balance in yoga. One aspect of turning inwards - to better connect with a deeper, more holistic experience of yourself. And alongside that - reflections to help you look more clearly outwards, enabling you to take some of the insights and inspiration beyond the mat and into your life.

Morning Yoga

In these gently energising and strengthening classes you can expect: dynamic vinyasa flow sequences, (adapted to suit everyone), breath work, mantra and personal inspirations. The class will end with a deeply restful and soothing meditation and savasana.

Evening Yoga

Designed to facilitate a lightening within you, as you are able to melt away physical and mental tension. This slower evening class combines the powerful practices of restorative yoga and meditation, to guide you towards a more relaxed, open and connected state.

Practices will be inclusive for all levels. So whether you're a beginner or a more seasoned practitioner, you will experience the joy of moving more freely and uncovering a practice that serves your needs.

Feedback about my retreats

"Sarah's retreat was absolutely wonderful. There was the perfect balance of yoga, meditation and time-and-space to oneself. She is a fantastic teacher and it was a privilege to share so much time practicing with her. The venue and food were also fantastic and the weekend was exceptionally well organised. I had an amazing weekend and came back feeling totally refreshed and like I had been away for ages. Thank you!"

Ellie Parkes, Restore & Renew retreat, Dorset, March 2019

"As someone with limited experience I found the blend of vinyasa flow and restorative yoga a wonderful balance and deeply satisfying. Sarah guided me through the most profound yoga experience; challenging my thinking and supporting me in learning techniques to help improve my physical difficulties. Her compassion and understanding was reassuring and uplifting. What I achieved on this very special moment surpassed all my hopes and expectations."

Ged Pattison, Art of Living Mindfully retreat, France, July 2019

"The retreat with Sarah was a wonderful experience. I appreciated the peace, calm and space to focus on myself and my practice. A change from daily life. The retreat was very well run and I felt as if I was in safe hands. Came home feelng rested, calm and motivated to do more yoga and meditation as part of weekly routine."

Deborah Higgins, Restore & Renew Retreat, Dorset March 2019

"After attending a retreat with Sarah I came home feeling wonderfully balanced and nourished. Sarah's kindness and gentleness cuts through a room full of strangers and instantly puts everyone at ease."

Jane Ripley, Art of Living Mindfully retreat, France, July 2019

"After attending Sarah's retreat I felt rested, rejuvenated, and inspired to go back into my life and make the changes I know are needed with the sense that this retreat was a necessary step on the path. It felt an idyll tucked away from life pressures. Sarah is a natural guide, on and off the mat, I appreciated her attention to detail and her open heartedness."
